Ramada by Wyndham Meridin Johor Bahru Raises RM12,000 for Three Charity Homes Under Its “Blankets of Hope” Project

JOHOR, 2022 – Mah Sing Group Berhad (“Mah Sing”)’s Ramada by Wyndham Meridin Johor Bahru (“Ramada”) recently raised RM12,000 and held its mock cheque handover ceremony to Momo Love Concept, an eco-conscious charity house that sells preloved clothing, handmade earrings and delicate craft from a group of low-income families.

The employee-initiated Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) project “Blankets of Hope” by Ramada Meridin employees, aims to empower a group of single mothers under Momo Love Concept to develop a skill that can generate a side income while also providing a much-needed item for three charity homes. The donation drive was led and executed over a 4-month planning and execution period.

Present at the mock cheque presentation ceremony were Mah Sing’s Chief Executive Officer, Property Subsidiaries, Benjamin Ong, Ramada Meridin’s General Manager, Khoo Heng Poe, Momo Love Concept’s Co-founders, Chris Pang and Jesslyn Chong, Pusat Jagaan Impian Syimah‘s Founder, Hasyimah, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Shande Johor Bahru’s representative, Joan Tan and Rumah Halo Prihatin Anak-Anak Yatim dan Fakir Johor ‘s representative, Mohd Hairulazrin.

Mah Sing’s Chief Executive Officer, Property Subsidiaries, Benjamin Ong said, “As one of the leading property developers in Malaysia, we want to make effort to bring the community into a more livable and sustainable society, thus we always make sure we are initiating something that will help in creating a positive community impact. Through “Blankets of Hope”, we believe that the unique and colourful quilt style of the patchwork blankets show our nation’s identity, along with the multiracial heritage and culture.”

Ramada’s General Manager, Khoo Heng Poe said, “I am also grateful for the commitment of my colleagues, of which have contributed to the success of raising funds for 80 blankets which has benefitted close to 100 children and the disabled. From sewing blankets to selling them out, we want to encourage and constantly remind the single mothers that they have the ability and strength to earn themselves a living. It is indeed a meaningful one as teaching them how to fish has a more sustainable impact than providing them the fish.”

80% of profit from every blanket sold through “Blankets of Hope” has been given directly to the single mother while the balance will be channeled to Momo Love Concept. The patchwork blankets were then donated to the three charity homes namely Pusat Jagaan Impian Syimah, Pertubuhan Kebajikan Shande Johor Bahru and Rumah Halo Prihatin Anak-anak Yatim dan Fakir Johor.
